Noise
Noise nuisance can be a problem in many working environments: factories, bars and restaurants, schools and concert halls. It can disturb the concentration and mutual communication, and noise levels above 80 decibel can also damage the hearing and lead to noise-related deafness.
A number of real-life examples of good practices that have reduced or prevented exposure to harmful noise are given below.
The information has been divided into the following sections:
- Measurement and assessment of noise (5)
- Alternative methods of working and technical measures (12)
- Personal and other protective equipment (2)
- Safe working practices: information and instruction (7)
More information on harmful noise can be found under ‘Sources of information’.
For a complete description of the relevant ‘good practices’, and the contact details of the organisation that has developed and/or implemented them, follow the links provided.
