Safe Building
Employees who work in construction may be exposed to relatively high risks, for example, falling from heights, stairs or ladders, being hit by moving objects (hammer, bar), cuts from objects (glass, knife) and becoming crushed. This can lead to an injury or fatal accident. Muscle and skeletal disorders also occur and employees may be exposed to hazardous substances (such as asbestos). A number of real-life examples of safe building practices are given below.
The information has been divided into the following sections:
- Health and safety management (8)
- Working at heights (3)
- Safe working practices: information and instruction (1)
More information on safe building practices can be found under ‘Sources of information’.
