Europese Week Conferentie

'Risico's te boek' (Recording Risks) Conference - 20 October 2008
Location: Central Library in Amsterdam

Every few minutes in the European Union, someone dies from an employment-related cause. Hundreds of people also take sick leave because of injury, stress, excessive work pressure, muscular or skeletal complaints or other occupational illnesses. Most of these could be avoided, with risk assessment as the first step.
Risk assessment is the central theme of the conference. Risk assessment is the foundation for successful safety and health management and plays a key role in driving down the number of occupational injuries and illnesses.

European Campaign
This is also the message of the biennial European campaign, ‘A healthy workplace. Good for you and for the company’ in 2008 and 2009. The European Agency for Safety and Health intends to use the campaign to promote an integrated approach to risk assessment at work, involving all interested parties.

Conference
The high point of the 2008 campaign is the conference during the European Week for Preventative Culture, and the role of Risk Inventorying and Evaluation (RI&E). Led by Hadassah de Boer, participants receive information on the latest RI&E insights, regulations and enforcement in response to the necessity for an RI&E and inspiring practical measures. Prizes will also be presented in the Good Practices Competition, and the entries the Netherlands will be submitting to the European competition will also be announced.
Report, cartoon and an atmosphere impression are available.
