Results Good Practice Competition European Week 2005

The European Week Stop that noise concluded on 12 December 2005 with a European summit on Noise at work in Bilbao, Spain. During this conference the prize winners of the European Good Practice Award were announced. From all the EU member states 32 good practices were nominated for the Good Practice Award.
The Dutch entry by the Verbond Papier en Karton wins a European Good Practice Award. In total 7 entries received the Good Practice Award on 12 December 2005 in the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao during the Good Practice Award dinner.

During the conference of the European Week 'Stop that noise' on 24 October 2005 state secretary Van Hoof awarded the prizes for the Good Practice Competition:

Akzo Nobel Coatings & Akzo Nobel Chemicals with ‘Combat the risk at the source: Hear, Hear!’

Wearing hearing protection is often not popular on the work floor. Akzo Nobel is attempting to convince its employees of the importance of this with a combination of information, hearing tests and checks. The first results are favourable.

What measures are effective against excessive noise levels from the economic point of view? The Verbond Papier en Karton maps out costs and results using an arithmetic formula. Employers are therefore more likely to invest.

Preventive Health and Safety Consultancy Firm with ‘Making yourself heard again in education’

Gym teachers at the Hooghuis Lyceum in Oss complained about excessive noise levels in gyms. Reason for the school to take acoustic and didactic measures. This resulted in reduced absenteeism.
