In this section, there is a presentation of the authorities and institutions forming the occupational safety and health status in Greece. Regarding the competent authorities, some general information is given for the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and especially for the General Directorate of Working Conditions and Health, while additional data are provided for the Labour Inspectorate (SEPE), which is the inspection and the enforcement authority for the implementation of the labour legislation.
Moreover, there is a presentation of the Social Dialogue Institutions, through which the views and suggestions of employers and workers in safety and health issues are expressed.
Apart from the state institutions, other non-governmental bodies (employers organizations, trade unions, scientific and professional bodies, educational institutes, etc) develop activities promoting the occupational safety and health issues, with an aim to improve the working environment and to minimize the number of work-related accidents and occupational diseases. Within this section, some informative data are provided regarding the Hellenic Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (ELINYAE).
In addition, information is given for the External Protection and Prevention Services (EXYPP), which provide OSH services at company level. |
