New Quality of Work

The New Quality of Work Initiative (abbreviated to INQA in German) is a joint project by the federal government, the federal states, social insurance institutions, social partners and businesses. The Initiative's members see the promotion of a new quality of work as an important task and challenge which will pave the way for the future. Through INQA, they aim to combine people's interest in positive, health-promoting and personality-enhancing working conditions with the need for competitive jobs. The guiding principle of the Initiative's work is "Taking action together - each partner on its own responsibility".

The partners in the initiative are looking to prompt a broad social debate on the future of work, with the aim of sharpening public awareness of the desired and required methods of organising tomorrow's working world. They also intend to develop joint strategies for improving work in specific sectors, plus measures to be performed by each of the partners on their own responsibility to bring about the planned improvements. INQA seeks to publicise these examples and initiate cooperation projects. The Common explanation to the New Quality of Work Initiative  serves as the basis for this work.

INQA is firmly planted in the European context. By adopting the Social Policy Agenda, the European Union set itself the goal of creating more and better jobs. The focus is thus on people's employability, qualifications, performance and health. The Agenda's ambitious target is to make the EU the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economic region in the world by 2010.
