Practical information and guidance

  • Equality
The website of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth provides information on subjects such as:
  • Gender mainstreaming

This portal provides an exhaustive range of well-structured, regularly updated information on gender mainstreaming, both in the national and the international context.
  • The "GenderCompetenceCenter"
The Center's website is full of information on gender mainstreaming for the fields of politics, public administration, industry, associations, science and academia. Working with other advisory bodies and research institutions, the GenderCompetenceCenter has developed a Gender Mainstreaming Expertise Database which can be used to find experts who work as gender mainstreaming consultants.
  • The "Gender mainstreaming" web pages of Berlin's Senate Department of Health, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection

The Department is playing an active role as one of the departments involved in the pilot implementation of the gender mainstreaming approach in Berlin. Its aim is to help ensure that gender equality aspects are taken into account at an early stage of and throughout its activities.
  • Women in agriculture
An exceptional article by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, with information on "Women and OSH in agriculture", particularly "Including women in risk assessment" and "Promoting gender-sensitivity".
  • "Arbeitssschutz für Existenzgründer/innen – Ein Leitfaden für Existenzgründer/innen im Land Brandenburg" ("Occupational Safety and Health for Business Founders – A Guide for Business Founders in the Federal State of Brandenburg")
As well as containing information on OSH issues, this guide is intended to illustrate the numerous overlaps with other areas of legislation.
  • Women's Health Database

This database, compiled by the "Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung" (Federal Centre for Health Education, BZgA), directs users to information sources in the area of women's health. In particular, gender-specific approaches to health promotion can be found in the fields of addiction prevention, HIV/AIDS education, sex education and family planning.
  • Occupational safety and health for women

If you always thought that occupational safety and health for women was simply about providing protection for expectant mothers, check out the IG Metall trade union's website.
  • A book (in German) by Ulrike Kannengießer is available on the subject of occupational safety and health for women. Entitled "Arbeitsschutz für Frauen. Ein Leifaden für die Praxis", it was published by the Hans-Böckler Foundation in Düsseldorf in 2005.
Priced at 15 euros, the book can be ordered from:

    Setzkasten GmbH, Kreuzbergerstr. 56,

    40489 Düsseldorf

    Fax: +49 (0)211 408009040
